Simple Ways to Earn Cash Now
Money’s tight. Your child needs braces. Your husband’s hours were cut back. On the way home from work, you get a ticket. Panic sets in and you wonder, “How can I earn cash now?”
There are plenty of ways to earn cash now–if you’re willing to work for less than others and do work that might seem menial. Keep in mind that whatever work you do will bring a fresh experience you might not have had otherwise. You could make some helpful connections. Someone else who has a similar struggle may be inspired to make brave changes by watching you.
Help your neighbors. Most of them have household jobs that they put off for various reasons. They may be too busy, or too sick, or just too tired to rake leaves or run errands. Some of them would be willing to pay you to do laundry or wash vinyl siding. They just may not be willing or able to pay top dollar. So, call them or, even better, go and see them. Tell them you need to earn cash now and are willing to work for a price the two of you agree on. Make it clear that you need cash. They might need light bulbs changed in a high ceiling or cars washed. Perhaps a sitter would be valuable or a good house-cleaning. You might be able to cook meals, pot plants, weed flower beds, or clean gutters. If you do a good job for one neighbor, the other neighbors may be calling you!
But what if you don’t have any needy neighbors? Then go through your belongings and haul everything you don’t want or need to your garage or yard and have a sale. Most everyone pays cash for garage sale items. If you have a couple of weeks, list some old books or CDs on internet sites that advertise used items for sale. Find a venue where you can sell gold and silver jewelry and get a check that day. Or take items to a pawn shop–just know you will only get a fraction of the item’s worth. But that is understood when trying to earn cash now. A little is better than nothing.
Perhaps you are so destitute and helpless that you don’t have anything to sell. As a last resort, find some old, faded clothes, put them on and go get dirty. Get a piece of cardboard and a good black marker. Make a sign that says, “Will work for food,” or “Trying to get back home,” or something more truthful, “Hungry and broke.” Take your sign and go to the busiest intersection you know and stand in the median. People who do this seem to be earning cash like mad. If you are not ashamed to admit your need and are willing to work, you can earn cash now.
